An Se-young, born on February 5, 2002, in Gwangju, South Korea, is a rising star in the world of badminton and a force to be reckoned with in women’s singles. She made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the gold medal in women’s singles, becoming the first South Korean to claim the Olympic title in this event since 1996. An’s journey to badminton greatness began at a young age; she was selected to join the national team as a junior high school student, making her the youngest player ever to achieve this in South Korea. In 2019, her exceptional talent earned her the title of BWF's Most Promising Player of the Year, and by 2023, she was named Female Player of the Year by the BWF, after clinching the World Championships gold, making her the first Korean women’s singles player to do so.
